The Importance of Collar Safety for our Little Buddies

Kia ora, fellow dog lovers!

While we all appreciate the role of collars in keeping our furry friends safe and identifiable, it’s crucial to think about the potential risks of leaving them on when they’re home alone. Did you know that collars can actually present safety issues? For instance, during play, dogs might accidentally get tangled up in each other’s collars, which can escalate to some pretty scary situations very quickly.

Not to mention, collars can snag on random things like furniture, nails sticking out of decks or even roller blind chains - which happened to Monkey when she was a pup and I've taken her collar off inside ever since.  It’s definitely something we should take seriously.

To keep our pups safe, it’s a good idea to remove their collars when they’re indoors and unsupervised. I know, it can be tricky to remember! That’s why having a collar that’s easy to put on and take off is such a game changer. If it’s simple to manage, you’ll be more likely to make it part of your routine. Let’s work together to keep our furry friends safe!
